Luscious Links

On this page I am including some links to resources, sites, articles, products or blogs that I really enjoy and thought I would share. Some links are links to people and businesses that I happen to think are really great folks, and hope that when you’re in the marketplace for their services you will stop in and check them out. I will continue to add links to this page and it will grow over time – they are in no particular order.

  1. Lisa Shamai Cuisiniére – Lisa Shamai is a gem of a person and a wonderful caterer as well. Big heart, great spirit, and exceptional cuisine.
  2. Susan Crowe –  I met Susan officially in person in June 2008, and briefly at that. However, I had been working on Rankin, Church & Crowe (she is the Crowe third of the group) website and cd artwork for months prior and finally got to hear some of Susan’s own music and loved it. Genuine, earthy and honest – both her and her music.
  3. Chef Lynn Crawford – Lynn Crawford is one of the world’s foremost chef’s. I had an opportunity in 2006 to be part of an event that my parent’s hosted, and Chef Lynn and her great Four Season’s Team donated the catering to The Incredible Edible Garden Party, where the 40 attendees raised over $3600 for The Toronto Star Santa Claus Fund. Attendees still talk about the party today, and always the first remembrance is the food, and second the wonderful spirit Lynn has – New York is lucky to have her. This link is an interview in the Globe and Mail, I quite enjoyed.
  4. The Toronto Star Santa Claus Fund – If you don’t know about it – you should. It has been in existence for over 100 years, and the Fund helps bring Christmas presents to needy children throughout the GTA – to over 45,000 kids each Christmas. If you’re looking for a place to donate your money, 100% of donations go directly into filling each child’s box. The Star picks up the administration tab to run the fund. I help coordinate a Volunteer Depot in Riverdale each Christmas and with about 100 volunteers through MCC Toronto we deliver close to 1600 boxes directly to needy kids.
  5. Cajun Bajan Cafe – Don’t let the bad website design turn you off of this place, it is not at all a reflection of the food. You’d never “happen upon” this out of the way gem of a restaurant that is tucked away in an industrial area near Warden and Eglinton. This place has the best damn bbq ribs and the best damn honey garlic chicken wings in the city – go try them if you don’t believe me. They also have live jazz on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
